There are still 850m people in the region who don’t use the internet. Urban residents in Sub-Saharan Africa are also 54% more likely to use the internet than their rural counterparts. It is estimated that Africa loses $3.5bn annually due to direct cyberattacks and billions more from the missed opportunities resulting from the reputational damage of the attacks.
90 % of African businesses are also estimated as operating without cybersecurity protocols in place, making them vulnerable to cyber threats.
The historical lack of investment in cybersecurity has been the direct contributor to a growth in the amount and scale of successful cyberattacks.
Cloud gaming
70% of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa is under the age of 30, resulting in the region having the youngest population in the world.
With the population having a median age of 19 this makes it an attractive market for entertainment services such as gaming.
